Get Abs Without Doing Crunches

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

So lots of people ask if it’s possible to get abs without doing crunches. Well, the answer is… absolutely.

In fact, you can do hundreds of crunches a day and still have no six pack to show for it. The reason? You have to burn off the fat covering your abdominal muscles, or you simply will never have washboard abs.

Of all the fat loss and ab building programs that I have reviewed, one stands out above the rest due to its emphasis on quickly burning off abdominal fat. This program is Fat Burning Furnace, by Rob Poulos.

Crunchless Abs

The most remarkable thing about this program is that it requires excercising only 20 or so minutes 2-3 days a week, yet it achieves pretty incredible results.

Unlike many abs building and fat loss programs, which require hours in the gym or drastic dietary changes, Rob’s program is very easy to follow, and it achieves results in WEEKS.

Check out Rob’s home page for more information and some really inspiring testimonials from people who have used his system to burn off fat and finally get the six pack abs they have always wanted.

So what’s the downside to Rob’s program? Like pretty much every exercise program, it requires dedication and some sacrifice. But if you are at all motivated to get ripped abs, then this is a great system to use to achieve fat loss and get a six pack in very little time. I highly recommend it.

The easiest eating plan to get 6 pack abs fast

Of the many diet plans out there, I have found that the easiest eating program to follow to shed abdominal fat is “the Abs Diet”.

The Abs Diet was developed by David Zinczenko of Men’s Fitness Magazine.

The Abs Diet advises you to eat six small meals, evenly spaced throughout the day. The diet also calls twelve foods “powerfoods”.

These powerfoods are:

  • Berries, especially raspberries.
  • Dairy foods.
  • Oatmeal (without sugar)
  • Whole wheat/whole grain cereal and bread
  • Peanut butter
  • Nuts (especially almonds)
  • Eggs
  • Protein powder
  • Greens and green veggies
  • Olive oil
  • Legumes, including beans
  • White meat chicken and turkey and other lean meats (fish and some beef)

The diet advises that three of the above foods be eaten at every main meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and at least one of these power foods be eaten at the smaller meals or snacks between your main meals.

In addition, the diet names a list of foods that you should eat regularly. These foods include: Apples, melon, garlic, sweet potatoes, peanut oil, Canola oil, brown rice, shellfish, asparagus, citrus, lentils, peppers, mushrooms, Canadian bacon, bananas, avocados, non-fat popcorn, peaches, and low fat soups.

The diet really does work fast. Many people see results in just a few weeks. And the best part is that it is very simple to follow (much simpler than the Zone Diet, which works very well, but is quite a chore to follow).

On the Abs Diet, you don’t count calories, carbs or grams of fat, and you don’t need to pay attention to ratios of carbs, protein and fat either (like in the Zone).

The diet is also NOT a high protein diet or even a low carb diet.

Then what IS the Abs Diet?

So now you know what the Abs Diet is NOT. What then does the diet consist of?

In addition to the powerfoods I mentioned above (3 at breakfast lunch, and dinner, one at your 3 snacks between meals), you are to avoid fatty foods (especially trans fats and saturated fats), refined sugars/refined grains, and highly processed foods.

And you are allowed one “splurge” meal per week, during which you can eat whatever you want, within reason.

Another essential part of the diet is daily aerobic exercise (even walking will do) and weight training. The theory is that by building muscle, you up your metabolism and thus burn fat faster.

That’s pretty much the diet in a nutshell.

Just eat your powerfoods at every meal and snack, avoid refined sugars, grains, and bad fats, and exercise.

It’s not reinventing the wheel, but it is simple, and if you follow it (along with an abdominal workout), the Abs Diet works to give you a sexy six pack.
